Media coverage for 808 State

Our brand new 808 State deluxe reissues are popping up all over the place.

On Monday they are the centre-piece of BBC Radio Scotland’s Alternative 90s show, which follows Chris Hawkins’ replay of the band’s Gorgeous-era Town & Country Club gig on BBC 6Music.

Subba-Cultcha has an extensive review under the banner “A none-too-brief history of dance courtesy of Manchester’s bleep-merchant laureates.” And Record Collector interviewed Graham Massey in their September issue and awarded 90 and ex:el five stars in their October issue. Gorgeous and Don Solaris came in with an equally respectable four stars.

John Doran examines all four albums in depth for The Quietus in which he declares 90 as having “survived the aging process surprisingly intact,” ex:el as "one of the best dance albums recorded” and Gorgeous as “still on fire.” As for Don Solaris? "Even in their mature phase, 808 State could still be a band not to f*** with." There’s also an extensive review of the set on Electric Roulette.
